This project involved the renovation and expansion of a former newspaper print press headquarters located near downtown Mobile, AL. This new project included an 85,000 SF warehouse (CTW) expansion, a 93,000 SF warehouse (CTW) retrofit, a 70,000 SF office renovation, and a 5,000 SF new vehicle maintenance building. Our scope was to retrofit existing chilled water systems and equipment to the greatest extents to reutilize for new program use. Due to the timing of construction, we were able to utilize the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) Tax Credit program. With this program, we designed a new Air-Cooled Chiller and Thermal Storage (Ice Bank) System central plant to serve the entire campus totaling 178,000 SF Controlled Temperature Warehouse for beer storage and 70,000 SF of office. Following federal government guidelines and proper construction methods, the owner will qualify for up to a 40% tax credit on the installation of the Thermal Storage Central Plant.
